香港 CxG 地圖 (版本二)啟動了! 希望大家會喜歡. 版本二會繼續有幾方面的加強, 包括開放 Pubilc Hong Kong Geocoding Database, 讓大家可以以留名的方式加入不同香港地方的位置.
Hong Kong CxG Map (v2) has been activated! We hope you like this version of CxG Map. Version 2 will have several further enhancements in the near future, including the opening of the Pubilc Hong Kong Geocoding Database, so that you will be able to submit Hong Kong places' positions with your name recorded.

Excellent work. Will you be publishing an API for it? Also is there any more detail about the Pubilc Hong Kong Geocoding Database?

Thx Ken for you comment, it’s really a good push for us to continue the work. But sorry for the late reply, missed your comment due to a bug in this blog.
Under the original plan, we are going to share the coordinate transforming script (WGS84 to HK1980) and also the API for querying the HK geocoding database soon with interested developers. For the satellite map, Google has provided extensive API on it (http://www.google.com/apis/maps/). If you think of any useful API that we can share, feel free to let us know.
For the Public Hong Kong Geocoding Database, as now it only contains a few location entries, we have also planned to open to public for input, with their names displayed when people searched their entered locations. But the development is delayed due to job huntings and new job preparations of key members =p, hope we would release this part soon by Aug 2006.
